Brand Focus: Product Meetings with Faire
Designs. Quantity. Measurements. Colours. Fulfilment.
These are just a few of the many terms being thrown across the meeting room during every product meeting. We do our product meetings in the design room that James (Joe’s dad) does his works in. As you enter the room, you’re first greeted by plenty of bags spanning across many designs, before seeing countless sketches and loose materials on the table. It’s a sight I marvel at.
Our meetings take place once every week, and most times they take hours and hours but all for good reason - At Faire, we have a dedicated team working on bringing new products to you, our valued customers. It gets hectic sometimes during the meetings because everyone in the room is rationalising and discussing (in great detail) each design that is being presented until we reach a common ground.
Everyone’s role is important at the table because every role from production and marketing to fulfilment and logistics is also considered. It’s also important because everyone needs to have a consensus. On most occasions, that consensus is usually James since he’s able to very quickly tell us which idea is a “good” idea, and which is a realistic one :)
Nonetheless, all of us are given opportunities to explore the web for ideas or come up with our own, as long as we put them to paper. The rule is simple - we have to make sure that we are solving a problem from the user’s point of view, while still looking sleek.
Ryan never fails to remind us that Faire is an experience, and that we must always consider design from the aspect of practicality and aesthetics because that’s our mantra - Functional Luxury at a Fair Price.
Brainstorming for new designs may seem like a never-ending task but ideas are free, as Joe always says, so why not come up with as many as possible instead of keeping them as ideas in our heads? Who knows, something that one thinks of as lousy may be an inspiration to another to come up with even better designs.
The opportunity to work here constantly reminds me that every individual has a voice. Designs are never limited to the usual slim leather wallet or leather tech organizer - as long as we have an idea that is realistic, it’s never frowned upon.
We have some really great products coming your way and we cannot wait to present it to you guys in these coming months.
Till then,
Joce
