Product Focus: The Quality of Faire Collective.’s Belts
As mentioned in my previous blogpost, creating belts for Faire Collective was an obvious decision. I have absolute faith in the ability of these craftsmen, many of whom I have known since I was a child.
Belts in this price range typically use leather for the front-facing side of the belt strap, and either faux leather or split leather for the inner side of the belt. Split leather is created when a piece of leather hide is inserted into a machine to be split into two layers by a blade. The bottom layer that results from this is known as split leather. While split leather is technically genuine leather, it is far more inferior to topgrain or fullgrain leather, as it peels and erodes easily unlike the latter two.

I have opted to use the vegetable tanned and cross grain embossed leather on BOTH sides of the strap — the same US topgrain cowhide that characterises our Bond and Specter Collections — finishing with a solid brass buckle.
Both sides of the belt strap are made of 100% high quality leather, and we have designed the belt buckle to be reversible, in the true spirit of #FunctionalLuxury. You can choose to wear it on either side, and enjoy the immense flexibility brought about by a single piece of luxury. With our Specter Dress Belt Bundle, you’ll have even wider matching possibilities with an additional colour option at a great price.
Best,
Joe
